Sweat Stories: Brianne Cameron

My name is Brianne Cameron. I am a Registered Nurse at one of the local hospitals here in Edmonton. In my day to day life you can either find me curled up with a good book relaxing, enjoying a good workout or catching up with my friends.

Throughout the past few years I have attended a number of spin classes, loving that each class provided me with a challenging and demanding workout. I was first introduced to Spinunity in October of 2016 when their second location opened in Windermere. Spinunity is my favorite by far, from the instructors, to the music, to the way each class is structured! I also love a good set of pumps and dips.

I also love the variety of classes that are provided. My favorite class is Spin and Strength. I love the feeling of leaving everything on the bike, and pushing my body to the max with the TRX. I remember leaving my first Spin and Strength class amazed at what my body was capable of. The soreness and inability to move properly the next day just adds some positive reinforcement.

After every class I feel so different, so much stronger, and that I’ve given my body some love with each class. I encourage my friends, beginner to experienced to come to a class with me to see what they are capable of.

The first thing that stood out to me at Spinunity is the atmosphere. The feeling I get when I walk into the studio provides me with the motivation needed to pound out to the beat of the music, and sprint through the long tracks. The instructors are all so friendly and make an effort to create connections and really get to know their riders. Many fellow riders bring a positive attitude and energy to each class that makes me feel like part of the community.

Have you always been active?

When I was growing up, I was an active kid playing hockey and doing a wide number of different styles of dance. After graduation, I found it challenging to find a good workout that I loved, and gave me the same feeling that dance and hockey did. I tried working out at the gym and taking other fitness classes, finally settling with running. I fell in love with running back in 2014 and the confidence it gave me. Running allowed me to push myself in ways I never imagined and I completed my first half-marathon in 2014. To date, I have completed five half marathons, with my ultimate goal to complete a full marathon one day. I love the confidence, mental clarity and happiness that result after a strong, powerful workout.

What are some of your happiest moments?

These past few years have been a whirlwind with so many happy moments. I graduated University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, was hired into my dream job, and completed my first half marathon. My happiest moment was saying yes to the love of my life and best friend back in May of 2016. I can’t wait for the big day and what the future has in store for us!
