My name is Kristin, and my spin journey started almost 3 years ago, before the studio was even called Spinunity!
When I’m not spinning, I’m a Registered Nurse working with patients post open heart surgery or planning my next travel adventure! I love to go off the beaten path- some of my favorite places in the world are in across southern Africa, and Easter Island!
I had always considered myself a fairly active person, and growing up kept busy diving and swimming competitively. When I started my degree at the University of Alberta, I found it difficult to balance a busy school schedule, as well as staying active. I tried a variety of different workouts and studios, but spin was the first workout I found myself consistently coming back to.
Before my first class, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up, or look awkward doing the drills. During my first class, I’m sure the phrase “you’ve got to be kidding me, watts how high?” passed through my head once or twice. I love being able to challenge and surprise myself. I never would have thought during that first class I would find myself signing up for classes every chance I have, or finishing 32 classes in 25 days during the last challenge, just to push myself a little bit further.
Going to spin is a time for me to relax and de-stress. The atmosphere is what always keeps me coming back- from the lights and music, to the variety of classes and instructors who always deliver a challenge each class. I hadn’t ever been to a studio with instructors who really got to know the people who walk through the doors, and were genuinely grateful to see you each day. These are only some of the reasons that this spin studio is one of my favorite places to be.
